The Mt. Zion Public Service District has received notification that Governor Joe Manchin has signed and awarded a $55,000 Governor's Community Partnership Grant for the purpose of repairing and replacing equipment in both the existing sewer and water service systems in Calhoun County.

The PSD was notified by the WV Dept. of Environmental Protection and the WV Department of Health and Human Resources of system issues that need to be addressed and corrected.

Among those needed repairs are back-up pumps for lift stations, fencing around water tanks, building repairs, and major repairs to the current sewer processing facility at the Arnoldsburg Community Building.

The $55,000 will be used to purchase the materials and equipment needed to make the necessary repairs in order to meet the compliance standards of the DEP and the DHHR.

Delegate David Walker has been instrumental in working with the WV Development Office and Governor Manchin in obtaining the much needed grant.

The Mid Ohio Valley Regional Council also provided guidance in the application process.

"This is a step in the right direction for the Mt. Zion PSD in its efforts to recover from past problems and issues. Ultimately this money benefits the customers of the PSD services," said Collins.
