A 19-year-old was reportedly shot in the face early Thursday morning at a residence along Rt. 16 between Orma and Minnora, about five miles south of Arnoldsburg.

Sgt. O. S. Starsick said Joshua Boswell was alert and conscious at the scene, but that the bullet was lodged inside his head.

Boswell was taken to Charleston Area Medical Center, where he was still under evaluation Thursday night.

Boswell told State Police he was shot near the nose by a hooded figure after he answered the door about 1:45 a.m. Thursday.

Police said Boswell was shot by a small caliber handgun.

Boswell had reportedly been staying at the residence of Fred Starcher.

Boswell was taken by private vehicle to Speedy Mart near Arnoldsburg where he was loaded in an ambulance and taken to Roane General Hospital by Calhoun EMS.

Boswell gave troopers some information before he was transported to a Charleston hospital, according to Sgt. Starsick.

Starsick said troopers already had ruled out one suspect and are working to find and interview others.
