CHS VOLLEYBALL PLAYS FOR SECTIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TONIGHT

By Kelley Houchin Calhoun High School Lady Red Devils defeated Gilmer County 25-18, 25-23, 22-25, 27-25 in Sectional play at Doddridge County Tuesday evening. Rochelle Gerwig led the team in service points with 15 points, 1 ace; followed by Ashley Houchin 12 points, Samantha Church 9 points, 1 ace; Amber Wilford 8 points, 4 aces; Jordan Mace 5 points, 1 ace; Karissa Reip 4 points. Setting: Houchin 152/154, 47 assists. Hitting: Wilford 76/82, 25 kills; Gerwig 22/22, 10 kills; Reip 20/21, 7 kills; Mace 17/19, 5 kills; Church 7/10. Blocks: Wilford 5, Mace 2, Reip 2, Houchin 2. Digs: Houchin 8, Wilford 6, Mace 6, Gerwig 6, Reip 6, Michelle Hall 4, Kenzie Laughlin 4. Calhoun will play in the Sectional Championship match beginning at 6:00 p.m. tonight at Doddridge County High School. Calhoun will play the winner of the 4:00 p.m. Gilmer vs Doddridge match in the double elimination tournament. Both the Sectional Champion and Runner Up will advance to the Regional Tournament. The Regional Tournament will be at Doddridge County High School on Saturday, November 6. Play begins at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
