MANCHIN CARRIES CALHOUN IN SENATE RACE - Capito Defeats Graf By Large Margin, Library Levy Carries Big

Fifty-two percent of Calhoun voters voted for Gov. Joe Manchin III (Dem) for US Senate in a hotly contested battle with businessman John Raese (Rep), who received 43% percent of the vote.

Manchin 919 to Raese's 767.

Manchin won the Senate seat, with Raese carrying about a dozen WV counties. Raese failed to carry his home county of Mononghela.

Congresswoman Shelly Moore Capito (Rep) defeated retired teacher Virginia Graf (Dem) receiving 63% of the vote to Graf's 34%.

Capito 1,067 to Graf's 584.

The Calhoun Library Levy received major support to pass, 1,129 to 597.

In the Supreme Court race, Thomas McHugh (Dem) 845 to John Yoder (Rep) 645.

David W. Walker (Dem) 33rd Delegate District, unopposed 1,192.

Shelia Garretson (Dem) Circuit Clerk, unopposed 1,328.

Bob Weaver (Dem) Calhoun Commission, unopposed 1,215.

Mike Ritchie (Dem) County Clerk, unopposed 1,340.

Rocky Holmes (Dem) Prosecuting Attorney, unopposed 1,134.

32.3% of registered voters voted, with 1,794 voters participating.

206 Republicans voted a straight ticket.

293 Democrats voted a straight ticket.
