MARIE HICKS - Spencer

Marie Hicks, 72, of Spencer, WV died Monday, April 22, 2002 at the home of Jim and Jean Marie Tidd, her longtime friends and daughter-in-law.

She was born September 24, 1929 at Swandale, Clay County, WV, a daughter of the late Thomas Pleasant and Susie Mae Rose Graham. She had worked as a nurses aid and was a member of the Slate United Methodist Church, The Roane General Hospital Auxiliary, the Monday Night Women's Bowling League and TOPS>

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Bertha and Bill Gandee of Sandyville, WV and Anna and Gordon Bingham of Ravenna, Ohio; son and daughter-in-law, Jules and Linda Hicks of Ravenna; sister, Velma Salisbury of Clay, WV; two brothers, Charles Harless Graham of Canal Fulton, Ohio and Orda E. Graham of Alliance, Ohio; 22 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe Hicks; son, Jesse Everett Hicks; daughter, Betty Jo Worthington Richeson; three grandchildren; four sisters; two brothers, and longtime companion, Harold Thomas.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 26 at 1 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, WV, with the Reverend Danny Whited officiating. Burial will be in the Minnora Cemetery, Minnora, WV.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
