Dallas Gene Chadwell, 81 - Normantown

Dallas Gene Chadwell age 81 of Normantown, West Virginia, went home to the Lord on October 29, 2010 following a brief illness.

Dallas was born September 2, 1929 at Mammoth, Kanawha County, WV, the son of the late James Raymond Chadwell and Vada Wills Chadwell.

He served with the US Army in Korea during the Korean Conflict then married Frances James on July 29, 1953. Dallas earned his BA from Glenville State College in 1957 and became an educator in Elyria, Ohio where he taught for 13 years. He earned his MA from Kent State University in 1969 and was a principal in Midview School District until his retirement in 1988. Dallas was saved and baptized into the Lower Steer Run Baptist Church at Normantown in 1964 and spent the rest of his days serving the Lord by doing good to his family, friends, neighbors and fellow man. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, traveling and golf.

Dallas was preceded in death by two brothers, James "Barney" Chadwell and Elmer Chadwell; and a newborn sister.

He is survived by Frances, his wife of 57 years; a son, Ronald "Rick" (Brenda) Chadwell of Spencer WV; and a daughter, Lois Chadwell Cruz of Charleston WV; three brothers, Harold Chadwell of Jacksonville FL, Don Chadwell and Mose Chadwell both of Normantown; two sisters, Sharon Chadwell Phillips of Lenexa KS and Renee Chadwell Ray of Normantown; 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 3, at the Lower Steer Run Baptist Church, Normantown with Elder Mark Minney officiating. Burial will follow in the Boggs Cemetery at Orton.

Friends may call 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the funeral hour, Wednesday, at the church.
