Smith E. Bartlett, 74, of Spencer, West Virginia, passed away Saturday, October 30, 2010 in Roane General Hospital, Spencer. He was born May 30, 1936 in Spencer, a son of the late Thomas Harley and Cammie Catherine Steele Bartlett, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Harley Bartlett, Jr. and Larry Joe Bartlett; one, sister, L. Ruth Bowen. Smith was the retired owner and operator of Bartlett Concrete, Spencer and a farmer. He was a Christian and a member of the Church of the Nazarene, Spencer. Also, he was a 1954 graduate of Spencer High School and life long resident of Roane County. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Melanie L. Webb Bartlett; two sons and daughters-in-law, Erik Paul and Rachel Bartlett of Spencer, Randall Allen and Janis Bartlett of Little Rock AR; four grandchildren, Cody Paul Bartlett, Leah Marie Bartlett, Samuel Holly Bartlett and Thomas Christopher Bartlett; one brother, Ronald D. Bartlett of Spencer; one sister, Lorraine VanHorn of Spencer. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 2 at 11:00 a.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Pastor Tom Fletcher and Pastor Wayne McGlothlin officiating. Burial will be in the Bartlett Cemetery, Spencer. Friends may call Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
