DOMINION DROPS $600 MILLION UPSHUR PLANT - Other Investors Sought

(04/23/2002)
Dominion Energy has changed its mind in partnering with Anker Energy Corporation in building a $600 million power plant near the site of an old Island Creek coal mine at Tenmile. The company said the economics did not support the vision for the project.

The 450-megawatt power station involved burning coal from Anker's nearby mine.

The project supported by the Upshur Commission would have brought 75 jobs to the area.

Anker Energy will continue looking for other investors.
