INVESTIGATION ENDS WITH SUICIDE - State Police say what started as a murder investigation and attempted kidnapping ended when the suspect killed himself.

48-year-old Jerry Paul England of Oceana shot himself in the chest Sunday night following a series of events that started with a murder.

The murder victim has not been identified.

Police say England allegedly kidnapped a relative who later escaped from his vehicle.

While England was trying to elude troopers, he fired several shots, with one cruiser hit five times and another hit twice.

One officer was injured.

The incident happened in rural Wyoming County.

England later lost control of his car, and held troopers at bay for about 40 minutes before shooting himself.

CHARLESTON STABBING - Police are holding two men who allegedly stabbed a man in the ribs during a robbery on Charleston's West Side.

The man was "seriously injured."

Police say the men allegedly attempted to rob the victim before stabbing him in the ribs on Bigley Avenue Tuesday.

WOMAN HELD AT GUNPOINT - Kanawha County Sheriff's deputies arrested a man for allegedly holding his son's girlfriend at gunpoint, Sunday.

50-year-old Bradley Ross is charged with wanton endangerment after reportedly holding 20-year old Sarah Rutledge at gunpoint, who they say was begging for her life.

Police said Ross was upset that Rutledge had allegedly hit, kneed and bitten his son.

Ross confessed, but said the rifle he was using was not loaded.

He was charged with domestic battery.

FORMER MINGO MAYOR HELD-UP - A former Mingo County sheriff and Kermit mayor was the victim of a daylight home invasion in Kermit on Monday.

Police say Jim Webb thought it was someone from the neighborhood on his porch, but when the man turned around he had a gun in his hand.

The man took $600 dollars from Webb and his 45-year-old son.
