Downtown Spencer alive with festival goers

Today is a big day for the 56th West Virginia Black Walnut Festival in Spencer, with dozens of special events and activities.

The Vietnam Traveling War Memorial has been drawing a large number of visitors.

Vietnam Memorial Traveling Wall - Open all day in the field across from Walmart.

6-11 a.m. Pancake Breakfast at St. Johns Methodist Church and Courthouse Square.

8 a.m.-5 p.m. Information Booth Open at the Courthouse Square.

9 a.m. Grand Parade lineup at Handi Mart.

9 a.m.-noon Carnival at the Parking Plaza.

9 a.m.-6 p.m. Flea Market, Outside Lot at the National Guard Armory.

Art & Photo Show at the National Guard Armory.

Craft Show at the National Guard Armory.

Quilt Show at the Chandler Building

Eastern Star, baked goods, knives, black walnut candy at the National Guard Armory.

Antique Power Show at Heritage Park.

9 a.m.-7 p.m. Spencer Antique Mall on Main Street across from Courthouse.

9 a.m.-8 p.m. Food Court Open on Courthouse Square.

Ox Roast on Courthouse Square.

Agriculture, 4-H, FFA, Flower Show, all exhibits at the Community Building.

10 a.m.-4 p.m. Depot Museum Open at Heritage Park.

One-Room School tours at Heritage Park.

10 a.m.-6 p.m. Glass Blower, Chip Turner on Courthouse Square.

Chestnut Ridge Artist Colony on Courthouse Square>

Granpa Cratchet Shows on Courthouse Square.

11 a.m.-6 p.m. Chainsaw Artist at Heritage Park.

Noon Grand Parade Black Walnut Avenue, Main Street, announcer Toby Wagoner.

Noon-5 p.m. Carnival at Parking Plaza.

2-11 p.m. Live Music Performances on the Courthouse Square stage.

3:30 p.m. Band/Majorette Competition at Roane County High School Stadium.

6 p.m.  4H - FFA Livestock Sale at Roane County High FFA Barn on Lick Fork.

Gospel Sing at Spencer Middle School Auditorium.

6-10 p.m. Carnival at Parking Plaza.
