Although many think Adult Basic Education classes are only for those seeking a GED, many other services are offered. Perhaps you are a high school student who is preparing for a college entrance exam. Or it could be that you are already in college but are struggling with freshman Math or English. Or maybe you would just like to improve your basic literacy. Whatever the case, there is a program to suit your educational needs. Call your local Adult Learning Center at 304-354-6151 for information.

GED classes are available in both Gilmer and Calhoun Counties. Calhoun County classes are held at the Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 11:00 to 3:00. Thursday evening classes are also available from 3:30 to 5:30 as needed.

Gilmer County classes are held at St. Marks Church on Tuesday and Wednesday from 3:30 to 5:30. St. Marks is located one mile from Glenville, across the street from the new fire station.

Due to changes in the GED program, the GED test is now free.

However, candidates must first pass a OPT Practice Test prior to taking the full-length GED test. If you cannot attend a GED class to do this, please call 304-354-6151 and a time will be scheduled for you to take the practice test.
