JUVENILE SUSPECT IN JOYRIDING 'THEFTS'

(10/18/2010)
State Police say five vehicles stolen a week ago in southern Calhoun, in the Beech, Wolf Run and Chloe areas, have been returned to their owners.

Sgt. O. S. Starsick says that the culprits appeared to be stealing the vehicles for joy rides.

"We have a juvenile suspect," he said, indicating because of how WV Code is written and based on the circumstances, "The suspect will likely have to be charged with joyriding."

The vehicles were discovered after being abandoned.

Sgt. Starsick said, "Residents need to secure their valuables and not leave them in their vehicle, including pain pills and money."

The officer warned residents not to leave their keys in their vehicles.

A 2001 Dodge truck stolen from a Houchin residence and a LandRover stolen from a Butler residence, both on Beech, have been returned to their owners, police say.

A 1991 Chevy 4x4 taken from Wolf Run, reportedly belonging to Foster Wilson, has been returned to the owner after it was discovered abandoned.

A Ford vehicle belonging to a Radabaugh was stolen and a 1995 Ford F-250 was taken from a Swearingen residence at Chloe.
