Cleo Snyder Wilson Lykins, 92 - Kentucky

Cleo Snyder Wilson Lykins, 92, of Tollesboro, Kentucky, passed away Monday, October 4, 2010 at Pioneer Trace Nursing Home in Flemingsburg, Kentucky.

Mrs. Lykins was born Decemebr 16, 1917. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Ida Bennett Snyder McBride.

Mrs. Lykins was married to Basil S. Wilson on October 28, 1934. He preceded her in death November 28, 1960.

Mrs. Lykins was married to Samuel D. Lykins July 18, 1962. He preceded her in death October 1985.

She was a graduate of Sand Fork High School, Gilmer County, West Virginia in 1935, and attended Glenville State Collage 2 ½ years and began teaching at age 19.

She graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Concord College in Athens, WV. In 1954 she finished an MS in Elementary Education from Marshall University in Huntington, WV. In 1964 she did post graduate work at Morehead State University and Eastern Kentucky University for one year.

Mrs. Lykins was a teacher in the Mason and Lewis County School Systems for 11 years and taught in West Virginia school systems for many years.

She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star for 35 years, Coal City Chapter 136, Coal City, WV. She also was a 40 year member of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, Judea # 13, Beckley, WV, a member of National Education Association, Kentucky Education Association, Life member of West Virginia Retired School Employees and was Kentucky Colonel.

She is survived by a number of cousins in Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky and special friends Rocky and Teresa Hardymon, Ron Hardymon, Tammy and Glen Madison and Jeff Hardymon and Insun.

Visitation will be at the Barbour & Son Funeral Home, Tollesboro, Kentucky, Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010 from 5-7:30 p.m. with the funeral ceremony starting at 7:30 p.m.

Committal services will be at the Stalnaker Cemetery, Glenville, WV at 1:30 p.m. Friday, October 8, 2010.
