Sull Arthur McCartney, 92 - Glenville

Sull Arthur McCartney, 92, of Glenville, West Virginia, died Sunday, September 26, 2010 at his home on Lower Leading Creek Road.

He was a son of the late Sylvanus Armstrong McCartney and Lizzie Alice Goff McCartney.

Surviving are two sons, Sull Arthur McCartney, Jr., and his wife Brenda Dawson of Oakland MD, and Kevin Lee McCartney of Glenville; two daughters, Mikal Ruth McCartney of Annapolis MD and Martha Gail McCartney of Petersburg WV; four grandchildren, Adam Gray Moomau and wife Rita Powell of Washington DC, Katelin Moomau Briney and husband Matthew of Arlington VA, Sadie Jane McCartney and Tess Elsie McCartney both of Elkins WV; one sister and brother, Myrtle McCartney Roberts and Donald Patrick McCartney both of Stumptown WV.

He graduated from West Virginia University in 1953 and worked for many years for the United States Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service in Parkersburg WV. He was a US Navy Veteran having served in WWII and the Korean War.

Private family services were held. The family encourages any memorial contributions be made to Hospice Care Corporation, Rt. 1, Box 43C, Burnsville, WV 26335.

Stump Funeral Home of Grantsville is in charge of arrangements.
