GEIGER TELLS HISTORIANS HOW TO ACCESS INFORMATION

Joe Geiger, Jr., named director of the West Virginia Division of Culture and History archives in 2009, spoke to a regional group attending Roane County's Historical Society Fair held last weekend.

It is one of the larger history fairs, drawing interested folks from the region.

He spent time informing those attending how they can access data from the state archives.

Geiger administers the state archives, archives library, historical collections and the database for the Veterans Memorial.

For the past 11 years he has served as an adjunct professor in the history department at Marshall University.

His family once resided in Grantsville, his grandfather was a Methodist minister.
