Calhoun's one room schools faced some challenges over 100 years ago, minor compared to today's educational bureaucracy. It was important that each school had two outhouses.

There was paperwork for teachers.

Calhoun teachers used this postcard (1 cent postage) to make a
monthly report regarding the number of students in their one-room
schools, found in teacher Elias Yoak's files between 1900-10, with over 100 one-room schools in the county at the time,
