CALHOUN SCHOOLS OFFERS STUDENT ENTITLEMENT FUNDS INFORMATION

Calhoun County Schools applications for state and federal entitlement funds for the school year 2010-2011 have been secured for Title I, Title II, RLIS, Special Education and Safe and Drug Free Schools. The following is a brief explanation of the utilization of those funds.

Title I - Provides financial assistance to LEAs (Local Educational Agencies) and schools with high numbers or percentages of poor children to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards.

Title II/RLIS (Rural and Low Income Schools) - Utilized for Professional Development Special Education - Provides services for eligible, exceptional students.

Safe and Drug Free Schools - Provide financial assistance for drug and violence prevention activities and activities that promote the health and well being of students in elementary and secondary schools, and institutions of higher education. Activities may be carried out by State and local educational agencies and by other public and private nonprofit organizations.
