CALHOUN'S CABOT RECYCLING WILL ACCEPT ELECTRONIC DEVICES - Landfill Ban Starts Jan. 1, Center Accepts Recyclables, Buys Metals

Degen says tons of electronics
are recycled from Cabot Recycling

There's good news for Calhoun and regional residents with a Jan. 1 ban on most electronics being dumped in landfills.

The Calhoun County Solid Waste Authority at the Cabot Recycling Station accepts all types of electronic devices for recycling, according to Executive Director Tom Degen.

The WV Legislature approved the ban earlier this year.

"When that stuff is dumped in a landfill, it's always going to be in there just as it was the day it was dumped," said Karen Facemeyer, R-Jackson, saying the bill was the responsible thing to do.

Degan said Cabot Recycling will take the devices if they plug into the wall or operates on batteries.

The devices can be left at Cabot Recycling 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The center has easy access to an inside delivery room, clearly marked for different recyclables.

The only exception for electronics is TVs, for which Cabot Recycling asks a $15 donation. Degan says the outfit that recycles them charges us for TVs.

Cabot Reyclying is a busy place, and is the area's largest recycling center.

Cabot Recycling accepts recyclable items 24/7

ACCEPTED RECYCLABLES:

Newspapers, junk mail, magazines, hard-covered books, brown paper bags, cardboard, certain plastic bottles, some milk jugs and detergent bottles.
