By Kelley Houchin The Calhoun High School Lady Red Devil Volleyball team traveled to Roane County yesterday for a 4:30 p.m. match. The JV defeated Roane 25-17, 21-25, 25-15. Shayla Arnold led the team in service points with 10 points, 4 aces; she was followed by Chelsea Hicks 9, 1 ace; Amanda Carter 9, 4 aces; Bailie Cain 7, 2 aces; Stephanie Hall 6, 1 ace and Megan Barton 2 points, 1 ace. Setting: Hicks 40/43, 13 assists. Hitting: Arnold 8/11, 4 kills; Hall 8/10, 3 kills; Carter 6/8, 2 kills; Barton 5/7, 2 kills; Cain 6/7, 2 kills. The Varsity defeated Roane 25-9, 20-25, 25-10, 25-22. Ashley Houchin led the team in service points with 18 points, 6 aces; she was followed by Amber Wilford 16, 5 aces; Jordan Mace 12, 2 aces; Rochelle Gerwig 8, 1 ace; Karissa Reip 3, Samantha Church 1. Setting: Houchin 83/84, 24 assists. Hitting: Wilford 31/33, 13 kills; Church 12/12, 3 kills; Reip 12/14, 3 kills; Gerwig 11/12, 1 kill; Mace 8/9, 2 kills; Kenzie Laughlin 3/4, 2 kills. Blocks: Wilford 8, Houchin 2, Mace 2. Digs: Gerwig 15, Reip 5, Laughlin 4, MIchelle Hall 4, Mace 3, Houchin 3. The Calhoun Varsity is in action again Saturday, Sept. 11, when they travel to Nicholas County High School for the Nicholas Invitational.
