GRISLY DOUBLE MURDER - A suspect in a grisly Brooke County double murder has taken his own life in a Pennsylvania Thursday morning.

Wellsburg Police say they received a call from a frantic mother who found her daughter and grandson dead at their home in Wellsburg Wednesday morning.

The victims: Melinda Nicole Brown-Allen and her eight-year old son Ethan James Michael Brown.

Police said they believe a large bladed knife was used in the slayings.

Police put out a nationwide alert on the man of the house, 38-year- old Abraham Allen.

Police in Harrisburg, PA found his car Thursday morning in Harrisburg PA, and discovered Allen had hanged himself.

The Allen's two-year-old child was in the home and unhurt.

WORKER SHOOTS HOLD-UP ARTIST AT ELKVIEW - A man tried to rob a video lottery parlor in Elkview with a shotgun yesterday, according to Kanawha County Sheriff's Department.

They say Chad Wehrle, 30 of Elkview, walked into Teresa's Café just after midnight wearing dark clothing and a red bandanna over his face and told everyone to hit the floor.

After Wehrle demanded money, store worker Douglas James rose from the floor with a 44-caliber handgun and fired two rounds, police say.

One of the shots hit Wehrle in the arm and upper torso.

Wehrle then fled the building and started firing his shotgun outside, according to police. Wehrle and James continued to exchanged gunfire, and Wehrle ran from the scene, said police.

The sheriff's department said about 1 a.m. Wehrle walked into Charleston Area Medical Center General Hospital to get treatment for his gunshot wound.

Deputies are issuing warrants for Wehrle, charging him with robbery and wanton endangerment.

Regarding the worker shooting at the intruder, "We don't encourage people to do that because of the dangers involved," said Deputy Rutherford of James' actions.

"But we do understand, with today's criminal climate, why this happened. No charges will be filed against him at this time," he concluded.

FAYETTE COUNTY SQUABBLE - One man is facing charges and another is on the run after firing shots at each other during a fight in Fayette County, Sunday.

The Fayette county Sheriff's Department says two men were fighting when they began firing rounds at each other in the roadway.

They say Harold Smith fled the scene and Jeremy Martin was arrested and charged with wanton endangerment, brandishing a dangerous weapon and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.
