FIRE DESTROYS MOBILE HOME AT HEAD OF WALNUT CREEK - Firemen On Scene 5 Hours

The Upper West Fork VFD responded to a fire at the James Adkins property at the head of Walnut, near the Braxton County line.

Calhoun 911 received a call regarding the fire at 8:22 p.m., advising firemen a mobile home belonging to James Adkins was on fire, with everyone out of the residence.

When the Herald arrived, it was discovered the fire was in a deep hollow off a road that ascends into Braxton County. The structure was about 6-7 miles up Walnut Creek from State Rt. 16.

Upper West Fork fire units managed to get equipment to the location, although the main structure appeared to be a total loss on arrival.

The fire appeared to have spread to other structures or equipment adjacent the mobile home.

The Arnoldsburg VFD and Calhoun EMS also responded.

Firemen remained on scene for five hours.
