CELLS PHONES GIVEN LIMITED USE AT CALHOUN MIDDLE-HIGH SCHOOL - Board Approves Eight New Policies

Among eight new policies on the agenda of the Calhoun Board of Education meeting last week, a policy to limit the use of cell phones and electronic hand-held devices drew considerable discussion and a series of back-and-forth voting. Board member Cynthia Dale led an effort to ban cell phones during school hours, while some members, including board president Steve Whited, indicated they felt students should have some access to cell phones during the lunch hour. The policy bans the use of cell phones on school buses.
