GILMER MAN DIES IN TIMBERING ACCIDENT

A Sand Fork, Gilmer County man was killed Monday while cutting timber. Authorities say 44-year-old Kenneth Self was pronounced dead on scene of the logging operation in the Stouts Mill area about 8:00 p.m. Self was self-employed with his own timbering contracting license, they said. A co-worker called 911 for help. The exact cause of death is under investigation.
