Gazel Belle Hupp Plant, 82 - Parkersburg

Gazel Belle Hupp Plant, 82, of Parkersburg, West Virginia, passed away August 10, 2010, at her residence following a long illness.

She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late Raymond and Carrie Hathaway Hupp.

She had retired after many years of service from the Ideal Box Company, after her retirement she began working for the Love and Care Personal Care Home where she made many friends and loved the aspect of helping others.

She was a quiet person who adored her children and grandchildren, she was a wonderful cook and was most happy surrounded by her family. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

She is survived by her children, Doris Ann Newberry McElraft and her husband Ken of Abingdon VA; Larry Wayne Plant and his wife Janet of Parkersburg; her grandchildren, Michael Wayne Newberry (Tamara) of Redlion PA, Melissa Ann Sawyer (Tony) of York PA, Carla Ann Griffith (John) of Abingdon, M. Sean Plant (Kathy) of Parkesrburg and Nicholas Wayne Plant of Parkersburg; 10 great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter and one great-great grandson; her sister, Orles Holpp (Lewis) of Parkersburg; her brothers, Eugene Hupp (Imogene) of Parkersburg, Leon Hupp (Judy) of Parkersburg, Doyle Hupp (Geraldine) of Grantsville WV, and Paul Hupp of Nicut WV.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Roy L. Plant on April 17, 2010; an infant brother, Donald Hupp, her brothers, Claude "Bud" Hupp and Billy Hupp; her son-in-law, Kenneth Lee Newberry.

Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Camden Avenue Church of Christ with Evangelist Dana Slingluff officiating. Entombment will be in the Sunset Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg and at the church Friday one hour prior to the service.
