ALL 304 AREA CODE NUMBERS USED UP

Starting now, your next door neighbor will have a new area code when they get new service - 681. All of the state's 304 numbers have been used up. The 681 area code debuted in March 2009, but has been little-used because number combinations were still available with the 304 area code. State residents have had over a year practicing using an area code when they make a local call.
