Rev. Margaret "Peig" Roohan Schmitz - Grantsville

Rev. Margaret "Peig" Roohan Schmitz of Grantsville, West Virginia, passed suddenly, Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at the age of 82.

She was born in Atlanta, Georgia, February 5, 1928, to Ruth Hutchinson Roohan and Alfred Joseph Roohan.

She was a graduate of Converse College, class of '49, and of Wesley seminary, graduating with a Masters in Divinity in 1984. She was pastor in Mayberry Run-Elkhorn, Hundred-Rush Run, Gauley Bridge, Paw-Paw and Pleasant Hill Methodist churches, all in West Virginia. She retired in 1998 to settle in Grantsville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Weeks Schmitz, Jr., in August 2009. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John A. Schmitz and Nancy Jacobs, and grandson Evan Jacobs Schmitz.

A memorial service will be held 12-noon Saturday, August 7th, at the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, Grantsville, followed by dinner at the church. Pastors Richard C. Metheney and Jerry N. Malona will conduct the service.

At a later date, to be announced, her remains will be interred in the Saint Mark Memorial Garden Walk, Saint Mark Presbyterian Church, Old Georgetown Road, Rockville, Md. Donations may be addressed to Saint Mark's Helping Fund.

Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, has assisted the family with arrangements.
