MAN ARRESTED FOR STEALING CHECKS AND UTTERING $2,600

State Police have arrested an Orma, Crooked Run man and charged him with a felony related to stealing $2,600 using stolen checks, according to a criminal complaint. Benjamin Munyoci Kathale, 30, is incarcerated in Central Regional Jail, for the theft from Susan L. Conrad of Orma. He is being held on $10,000 bail Conrad had temporary custody of children belonging to Kathale and her niece. She discovered checks had been taken from the back of her checkbook. Kathale had forged Conrad's name on the checks. The complaint indicates Kathale had also taken money from other family members. The complainant says Conrad confronted Kathale about the theft, after which he told her he had made a "stupid mistake" and would pay her back.
