MUTLIPLE DEATHS STRIKE WIRT COUNTY COMMUNITY - Four Members Cunningham Family Die In Crash, Prayer Vigil Tonight At 9

(07/19/2010)
A prayer vigil is tonight at 9:00 pm on the lawn of the Wirt County Courthouse in Elizabeth for a local family of four killed in a car crash yesterday in Mineral Wells.

Several other tragic deaths, including several suicides, have struck the community.

The driver was 27-year-old Carrie Lynn Cunningham of Mineral Wells, who was pronounced dead at the scene of A crash along with her passengers, husband 38-year-old Michael Edward Cunningham, daughters 7-year-old Haley Danielle Myers, and 4-year-old Addison Paige Myers.

A Wood County Sheriff's Deputy said Carrie Cunningham was traveling south on Wood County Route 21 when she was negotiating a sharp left bend in the road when her car started rotating counterclockwise crossing into the north bound lane where she was struck by the northbound pick up truck driven by 41-year-old Darin Affolter.

Affolter is listed in good condition.

The Wood County Sheriff's Department is saying the accident was caused by worn tires on the Cunningham vehicle, during falling rain.

Other recent deaths in the Elizabeth community are Chuck Hardbarger, Theresa Marks Greathouse and Chris Reed.
