'PHOTO OF THE DAY' - Norma Knotts Shaffers Vast Historical Collection

The Herald has an amazing collection of photos put together over several years, many found on the Herald's Photo of the Day by Norma Knotts Shaffer. A record of family members and the life and times of Calhoun County life, carved from the dense wilderness these past 200 years. Some of the earliest photos dates to Civil War days. The late Norma Knotts Shaffer dutifully collected, scanned and captioned many of the photos, readily available to Herald readers by a click. Shaffer has focused on pre-1950 photos, while editor Bob Weaver has focused on post-1950 photos. The photos and entire written archives are preserved at Glenville University. The Hur Herald will fade from its internet presence, so we suggest if there are stories and photos you would like to keep, make hard copies.
