$1.2 MILLION SPENCER BRIDGE OPEN - Corder Bridge Construction Soon

(07/09/2010)
The West Virginia Division of Highways says that the North Market Street Bridge in Spencer, leading to the town's Alvord section, was opened to traffic on Tuesday.

However, motorists should be aware that future lane closures could occur as crews are still performing curb work, installing wearing courses, and placing stone and rock below the structure.

Motorists are asked to use caution in the work zone.

The $1.2M project was awarded to Turman Construction, which included the demolition of the previous concrete arch bridge, installation of a temporary structure, and construction of the new bridge.

The project is expected to be complete by September, 2010.

It appears that the long-awaited construction of the Corder Bridge, located at the Roane-Calhoun Line/US 33-119, could be underway soon.

Signage and a construction trailer have been moved to the site.
