Edward Eugene Hamric, 67 - Spencer

Edward Eugene Hamric, 67, of Spencer, West Virginia, died Saturday, July 3, 2010 in Roane General Hospital, Spencer, after an extended illness.

He was born January 6, 1943, in Spencer, a son of the late Smith Paul and Mildred Pauline Drake Hamric.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Gay Smith Hamric in 1978.

Ed was a former high school teacher in Roane County. He was a graduate of WVU and the COGS, South Charleston. He was an avid fan of the WVU Mountaineers and NASCAR. He was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church, Spencer.

Survivors include a son, Brian Hamric of Richfield, MN; brothers, Fred Hamric of North Port, FL and Richard Hamric of Sarasota, FL; sisters, Martha Reed of Spencer, Karen Peden of Houston, TX and Judy Sarver of Havre de Grace, MD.

In the hope of helping others, Ed donated his body to the Human Gift Registry of West Virginia University.

Memorial service arrangements will be announced at a later date. John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, is in charge of local arrangements.
