QUESTIONS REGARDING HERALD'S OBITUARY POLICY?

(08/13/2010)
The Hur Herald provides free obituary services to any family or funeral home who desires to publish a notice of the death of a loved one, including a photograph if provided.

The Herald frequently gets questions about why some obituaries do not appear.

It is simply because those funeral homes or families do not submit the free obituaries.

Regional newspapers generally charge $100-$150 for a one-time insertion.

If families do not pay, those regional daily newspapers then insert a few brief sentences listing only name, age, address and time of service, free.

The Herald will publish free obituaries from our regional counties Wirt, Roane, Clay, Gilmer, Ritchie, and Braxton, or other obituaries of individuals who have connections to the area, when submitted.
