Dale Edwin Fluharty, 72 - Leroy

Dale Edwin Fluharty, 72, of LeRoy, West Virginia, died Thursday, July 1, 2010, in Roane General Hospital, Spencer.

He was born December 7, 1937 at Liverpool, a son of the late Harris Burl and Mary Jane Fleming Fluharty. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters.

Mr. Fluharty was the owner and operator of Fluharty's Used Cars, Spencer, and the owner of Clay Auto Parts, Clay. He was a member of the Teamster's Union, Local 175, Charleston, and had worked for Geupel Construction and High Power Energy, Summersville. He was a former police officer with the Parkersburg Police Department for over 10 years. Also, he enjoyed his antique cars.

Survivors include his wife, Shirlene Ellison Fluharty; three sons, Dale Edwin Fluharty, II of LeRoy, Ronald Harry Fluharty of Parkersburg, and William Burl Fluharty of Scott Depot; brother, Burl David Fluharty of Harrisburg, PA; two sisters, Edna McVey of Parkersburg and Louise Brabham of Davisville; 10 grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held Sunday, July 4 at 2:00 p.m. in the Eventide Cemetery, Spencer, with Pastor John W. Ellison officiating. Friends may call Saturday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer.
