GRANTSVILLE INCREASING WATER RATES 24% - Increase Will Fund Improvements

A legal notice published by the Town of Grantsville says the town is seeking a 24% increase in water rates.

The increase will be used for improvements to the system costing $1,130,000.

Examples of how the increase will affect residential/commercial customers:

First 2,000 gallons used per month, per 1,000 gallons: $6.50 to $8.06

Next 3,000 gallons used per month, per 1,000 gallons: $6.08 to $7.54.

Next 5,000 gallons used per month, per 1,000 gallon: $5.44 to $6.75.

Minimum water bills will increase.

The re-sale water rates to the county's two PSDs will increase from $2.87 per 1000 gallon to $3.56.

The legal notice indicates the increases could go into effect on August 20, 2010.
