Jacques Frost came calling in the Creston area and left his mark on some of the flowers that the DNR's deer did not consume. By Sunday it warmed up again and a honeybee was spotted gathering nectar.

Mabel Arthur passed away after a long illness. She was the widow of the late Oke Arthur and lived on Big Run of Little Creek.

Hallie Cunningham "can see clearly now" after undergoing eye surgery.

"Bobbles" Tanner received a nice rubber ducky toy. He blames Joe Webb.

An uproar continues over the decision by the pointy headed 'perfessers' to take the Indian lore out of 4-H. A group of 4-H support staff is contemplating Larry Cote & other extension PC bureaucrats to court. It should be noted that this is the same school of thought who decided that the savages held at Camp X-Ray should be given ethnically correct hot meals and hot showers while the U. S. soldiers who guard them receive cold MREs and occasionally get to wash up with a garden hose.

Meanwhile up at the "same center of academic excellence" the medical school staff are working to promote socialized medicine. They did a big telephone survey to "to show health & insurance needs" in the state and the report is due out soon. Dr. Dallessandri is also promoting New Age, a religion backed by many nationally prominent socialist types.

Roy Copen, candidate for County Commission and County Commissioner Robert Lowe were both attending to business in Creston over the weekend.

Former Lemuel's Run resident Gordie Marks was visiting in Creston over the weekend and looking for a place to fish.

Gaylen Duskey, a writer for the big paper in Parkersburg, still is promoting casino gambling for Creston. Maybe when he was away from here he got to be good friends with some of Buggsy Segal's family. He noted that the land was vacant but actually the dePue bottoms are cut for hay and have been for over 150 years. He also noted that large flock of buzzards call the area home. Actually some Creston area residents gather up some of the DNR's venison that argued with automobiles so that the birds do not go hungry and stay in the locality. Another group of the majestic birds stay on the old Benniah dePue farm on Spring Creek near Spencer.

According to a visitor out on the Mt. Zion ridge, two of the head engineers down at Parkersburg are Red "Big Dog" Richardson and Bart Schumacher. The Big Dog spent last week down in the deep south.

A spokesperson for Columbia Gas stated that if the Dink well (the one being drilled now in Clay County) did not strike it big time in the Trenton/Black River it would be the last for some time and deep wells would go on down to the Beekmantown formation which under lays the entire area.

Martin Twist, who is now operating as Cherokee Energy, is working on a deep location near the Vista Church near Belgrove in Jackson County.

Keith Collins and Anna Engelke went skiing in the mountains over the weekend. They enjoyed the black diamond challenges.

Donna Sue Ferrell and Nancy Engelke were shopping and dining in Parkersburg. Robert Wright and Andy Cheuvront were in Creston dealing with overweight log trucks that destroy local highways. One truck had tires that would not have been suitable for a farm wagon and the trucker had over a 90,000 lb load going down the road. Safety obviously is low on some folks list.

The DPS was in Creston looking for scofflaws. Seems it was reported that someone was driving an illegal vehicle but such was not the case and they went back empty handed.

The Gasts were spending some time at their place in the Rose Hill cemetery at the head of Beaver Dam Run out at the Roane County line.

Cap'n Spock has reportedly been up to some of his old antics again, extricating and towing a Klingon battle cruiser (a gmc wannabe truck) up a hill with the Enterprise. The Enterprise weighed only 1/2 as much as the stranded jimmy. The Enterprise has been known to pull a loaded gmc log truck up to the top off the Ace Haney Hill. Not bad for a 3/4 ton Ford. Also, the illustrious starship commander was seen piloting an object described as a "saucer-shaped UFO looking" gizmo about. It was not clear whether the object took off.

Eloise Wayne, of Louisville, Ky., Glenn & Joanne Griffin and Rodgie, of Manchester, Ohio, and Debbie & JB Griffin and Dixie were among those calling on Uncle Pete and Aunt Verda at their Millstone residence.
