Twenty-four certifications have been issued to Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center, Welding Technology students during the 2009-2010 school year.

"It has been an exceptional year for our program," said Carl Collins, Welding Technology Instructor.

"All of the students have worked very hard and deserve to be recognized for their dedication in achieving these certificates. They all have an opportunity to work toward a variety of welding certifications," Collins said.

Collins says he does not force his students to take this test, but they are encouraged to leave the program with some kind of achievement that will perhaps help them in their career.

Post graduate student, Zech Cosner will compete at the national SkillsUSA competition this week in Kansas City, Missouri.

The most recent certifications were issued to Taylor Welch, George Short, Jr., Caleb Robinson, Peter Vassilopoulos, Nicholas Jones, Justin Wood, Matthew Talbert, Jarrod Claypool, Camden Kinder and Calvin Knotts.

"I would like to wish Zech and all of the seniors the best of luck in the future and please stay in touch," said Collins.
