MAN STABBED AT COAL FESTIVAL - A man was stabbed during a fight at the Coal Festival in Boone County this week. police say.

James Bentler was stabbed around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Bentler was stabbed in the lower back, after which he was taken to a local hospital.

Police reportedly have arrested a man they believe is responsible for the stabbing.

WOMAN SHOT IN ST. ALBANS - The St. Albans Police Department was alerted about a shooting after a woman showed up at the Charleston Area Medical Center with a gunshot wound.

Tiffany Mitchell, 20, of St. Albans, was shot by a man after he got into an argument with her boyfriend.

She said she heard a gunshot and felt the pain in her left knee.

Police stated that everyone fled after the gunshot.

The injury was not life-threatening and the bullet was not recovered because it exited the wound, police said.

MORGANTOWN MAN SHOOTS SON - State Police responded to a report of an armed man in a home in Morgantown, and found a man who had been shot twice in the chest.

Investigators said Onas Aliff shot his son Christopher following a dispute.

Responders transported Christopher Aliff to Ruby Memorial Hospital, where hospital officials said he remained in stable condition after surgery.

State police arrested the elder Aliff, and charged him with malicious wounding.

A bondsman posted Aliff's $40,000 bond.
