Numerous overweight trucks hauling from Groundhog Ridge area

One of several overweight logging trucks was cited yesterday afternoon on the Creston Straight in Wirt County. Wirt Sheriff Andy Cheuvront helped issue the ticket, which will cost the company about $800.

Robert E. Wright of the WVDOH weights division said the truck was 25,200 pounds over the 65,000 pound limit. The truck, which had bald tires, was owned by David Clark of Salem and was hauling from the Groundhog Ridge section of Wirt-Roane County.

Authorities indicated truck was safety hazard, slick tires

Numerous other trucks were hauling overloaded from the area yesterday evening after the Clark truck was cited.

The weight crew stopped several overweight trucks in the Creston area last week with fines recorded near $3000.

The trucks were hauling both east and west on Route 5.
