Loans and grants have been approved for Spencer's sewage system.

State Director Bobby Lewis announces that USDA Rural Development approved a Water and Waste Disposal Loan of $2,210,000 and Grant of $640,000 for the City of Spencer.

Rural Development funds will be used to make various improvements to the City's existing wastewater system including the evaluation and correction of excessive inflow and infiltration, improvements to the treatment facility, and replacement of equipment.

The replacement of 3,000 feet of obsolete sewer line is also proposed.

"This project will benefit approximately 1,566 existing customers of the system," added Lewis.

"This is a prime example of a project that exemplifies Rural Development's mission to increase economic opportunity and improve the quality of life for all rural Americans." Rural Development
