TOMAN WILL BE NEW RITCHIE SUPERINTENDENT - Ritchie Super Resigns After Threats

(05/22/2010)
Former Gilmer County superintendent of schools Ed Toman has been hired as the superintendent of the Ritchie County school system.

Toman was dismissed from his Gilmer position after a controversy over school consolidation, and had been employed at Glenville State College.

Toman will replace Greg Cummings, who had recently been hired as the Ritchie superintendent.

Cummings resigned the position after receiving threatening letters, expressing concern for the safety of his family.

Cummings received anonymous letters containing photos of his former Maryland house, apparently linked to the threatening statements.

Ritchie board president Carol Bowie said it was regrettable that a few people had rejected Cummings, who is a former pastor with an MBA and doctorate degree.
