DRILLER DAMAGES WALNUT ROAD BRIDGE

Calhoun highway officials are looking into alleged damage done to a bridge and the highway on Walnut Road by a drilling operation. Local sources report CONSOL Energy is drilling a Marcellus Shale well a short distance from State Rt. 16 on Walnut Road, requiring heavy equipment and water trucks. One or more of the large vehicles, reportedly drafting water from Walnut Creek, ran into a bridge, damaging it, with indications the road has also received some damage.
