CHS BOYS RELAY TEAM MOVING TO STATE CHAMPIONSHIP

(05/17/2010)
By Dan Cosgrove

Members of the Calhoun High School track team competed Wednesday at the Region 4 Track Meet at Laidley Field in Charleston. On the line were runners dreams of qualifying for the West Virginia State Championship Meet to be held next week.

The boys relay team realized those dreams, qualifying in both the 4 X 100 Meter and 4 X 200 Meter races.

Boys Relay Team L-R: Nathan Cosgrove,
Cameron Litviak, Mark Bedree, and Dan Sims

This is a real Cinderella story. Calhoun has only had a track team for two years and two of the boys started this year.

In a very short time the boys have put together a competitive sprint relay team with Dan Sims as the lead man, followed by Mark Bedree and Cameron Litviak, with Nathan Cosgrove as the anchor.

In one of the toughest regions that includes Williamstown, St. Marys, Charleston Catholic, Gilmer, Wirt, Buffalo, Hannan, and Calhoun, only the top 3 teams could qualify to compete in the State Championship scheduled for May 21st and 22nd. Calhoun will join Williamstown and Charleston Catholic representing region 4.
