(05/11/2010)

The Calhoun Commission has received a grant to improve access to polling places in the county, the funds are being used to improve parking and access to the Upper West Fork Park community building, the poll location in Washington District.

The work has been completed at the building prior to Primary Election day.

The Calhoun Commission has received a $4,400 grant to improve courthouse security.

The grant funds will be used to install security systems on the door on the office of the Probation Officer, the courtroom and the door of the Prosecuting Attorney. The funds will also be used for new locks on the doors.

The Aiphone Secruity System would allow for a 170-Degree "angel-view" once the camera is activated.

It will then be the receiving persons responsibility to determine if an individual can be granted access, with the receiving person being able to push a button to unlock the door.
