16,000 WV CHILDREN STILL ELIGIBLE FOR HEALTH INSURANCE

(04/30/2010)
There are as many as 16,000 kids in West Virginia without health insurance that could be covered by the Children's Health Insurance Program or Medicaid.

State officials do not know why they are not enrolled.

West Virginia Healthy Kids and Families Coalition Project Director Jeff Allen says they're working to get the word out about the available coverage with the help of federal grant money and a number of organizations throughout the state.

There are areas in the state that have higher percentages of children un-enrolled than others.
