UPDATE: RITCHIE TROOPER REMAINS IN SERIOUS CONDITION

(04/27/2010)
A State Police trooper remains in serious condition in Charleston Area Medical Center after being hit by a passing vehicle during a traffic stop in Ritchie County.

Corporal A. M. Pringle (left) of the Harrisville Detachment was showing a new trooper how to conduct a field sobriety test Saturday night near Cisco (Rt. 47) in Ritchie County when the incident happened.

The police trainee was also hit by the vehicle, but was not seriously injured.

"There are some positive signs coming from him [Pringle]. He did respond to movement. He has moved his thumbs. They are keeping him sedated at this point," said State Police Chaplain Rev. Jim Mitchell.

Jesse Parsons, 63, of McFarlan, struck Pringle's cruiser and then hit him. Parsons was arrested for DUI causing bodily harm. He is in North Central Regional Jail.
