Three Calhoun County 4th graders participated in the 34th annual Region V math field day at WVU-P on March 15.

There are 4 sections to the math competition: math basics (written), mental math exact, mental math estimation and physical estimation. There are 8 counties that participate and each county sends 28 students from grades 4-12.

A county-wide written test determined the 3 participants and the alternates from both Pleasant Hill and Arnoldsburg School. In the weeks preceding the event, the students, both participants and alternates, worked very hard on their math skills and should be congratulated on a job well done.

Competing were Mercedes Ferrell, and Caroline McCumbers from Pleasant Hill and Hayes Vineyard from Arnoldsburg. The alternates from Pleasant Hill were Robert Twist, Soney Wilson, Morgan Moneypenny, and Echo Richards. The Alternates from Arnoldsburg were Roby Farmer and Lillith Nuzum.
