Lorri Cunningham has done an excellent job this year teaching art through the Lights On program at Pleasant Hill. The latest project the students have finished is masks. The students fashioned a pattern from their own face using aluminum foil. Then using papier-mache and decorations of their choice they arrived at some unusual designs as you see from the picture below.

. Part of the Lights On program is to introduce students to different professions. Monday, March 25, Nina Smith, RN, from Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center spoke to the students about the nursing profession. She spoke about the education it takes to become a nurse, the different types of nurses, and the myriad duties of nurses. Several students expressed an interest in becoming a nurse when they grow up.

Also, this six weeks Kim Batten is teaching the fundamentals of basketball at Pleasant Hill. They are learning how to dribble, shoot and performing exercises such as pop corn as demonstrated by the pictures below (and here I thought popcorn was to eat).
