(04/02/2010)
A Calhoun High School junior, 18-year-old Clayton Bell, is facing charges for assault and battery on a 15-year-old male sophomore, according to deputy sheriff Carl Ballengee.

The incident happened about noon Tuesday inside the school.

Calhoun principal Karen Kirby said staff took immediate action regarding the incident, including following school policy.

The 15-year-old male was taken to a Parkersburg Hospital for treatment of a broken nose and possible other injuries. He was released.

At least two school officials sustained minor injuries while attempting to stop the fight, said deputy Ballengee.

They were taken to Minnie Hamilton Health System for evaluation and treatment, and then released.
