| Seven frequently flooded Calhoun properties along the Little Kanawha and the West Fork of the Little Kanawha are being bought and leveled, creating green spaces.
A meeting yesterday regarding the project, included Zack Browning and Tom Saunders from the WV Development Office, Tim Meeks from the Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Council, Calhoun Commission president Bob Weaver, and Danielle Stevens, Administrative Asst. to the Commission.
The HUD Disaster Recovery Initiative will receive $500,000.
Meeks indicated the project closings would likely happen in August, with a contract for demolition let later this year.
The Calhoun Commission applied for the 2008 grants.
All the proprieties have been subjected to repetitive flooding.
A special meeting of the stakeholders is being held April 29. |
