Over several years the Herald has attempted to honor our Calhoun soldiers.
In many cases, it has been much more than just writing or putting together a story.

We hope that Herald readers will take a few minutes to read this tribute to Bates.
Despite our views about different wars, we surely acknowledge and remember the hundreds and hundreds of Calhoun men and women who performed in a manner in which all should be proud.
